Release 3.8 with New Features and Bug Fixes

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed arc drawing during transformation.
Due to the specifics of the internal representation of arcs, their rotation or mirroring could sometimes lead to incorrect rendering. The internal storage format has been fixed, and arcs are now displayed correctly regardless of transformations.
  • Exporting arcs to a Gerber file was executed with an error.
The corrected internal storage format for arcs resolved the issue with arc rendering in Gerber files. It is now performed correctly regardless of transformations.
  • When generating headers in Gerber files, an outdated format was used, causing some Gerber viewers or import tools to display the file incorrectly or refuse to open them at all.
The deprecated formats have been removed, and Gerber files now open correctly in all software.

Additions and New Features

  • Added a schematic format wizard.
As you know, schematics are designed within specialized borders of various standards. The SalixEDA library contains borders according to ISO and GOST standards. The format wizard allows you to quickly insert a sheet border format into a schematic, as well as replace it. For example, a schematic was initially developed using an A3 border, but later, as it grew, switching to A2 was required. The format wizard allows performing such a replacement in just a few steps.
  • Added a context menu to the selection mode. This context menu allows, among other things, rotating selected graphic elements, as well as mirroring them. Introducing these two operations speeds up drawing new components, including both schematic symbols and footprints.
Graphic elements include lines, arcs, rectangles, and circles, including filled ones.
  • Added support for exporting text to a Gerber file.
To generate silkscreen layers (text labels and drawings on the board printed with ink), it is often necessary to output actual text. Until now, text was not exported to Gerber. This feature has now been implemented using an embedded vector font. Currently, the font supports English and Russian languages. Upon request, support for specific characters of German and other alphabets can be added.
